Kilometroak 2026 · 50th edition in Lazkao

Kilometroak is the big annual festival of Gipuzkoa’s ikastolas, the schools that teach in Basque. Participants walk a circuit dotted with activities and entertainment. The 2026 edition will take place on Sunday 4 October 2026 in Lazkao. It is organised by the Lazkao ikastola under the slogan ‘Ibilian-ibilian, buelta!’.

A 50th edition that goes back to its roots

The festival was born in 1977 in Beasain and Lazkao. Since then, 49 editions have been held in different towns across Gipuzkoa. For its 50th, Kilometroak is returning to where it all began.

The spirit of the festival

The Lazkao ikastola wants a festival for everyone, organised ‘with the village and for the village’: a meeting place for local people and for all those who support education in Basque.

Other ikastola festivals take place elsewhere in the Basque Country at other times of the year, such as Nafarroa Oinez in Navarre or Ibilaldia in Biscay.
