Biarritz Latin America Festival (Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine)

Founded in 1979, the Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine (Biarritz Latin America Festival) has become a key event for Latin American cinema in Europe. The 35th edition runs from Saturday 26 September to Friday 2 October 2026.

What’s on

• Three competitions: feature films, short films and documentaries
• The Abrazo: the prize awarded by a jury of professionals to the best film in each category
• Themed film seasons
• Literary events and exhibitions, including photography exhibitions
• Free concerts in the evening
• The Conversatorio, a space for informal conversations with the guests

The 2026 edition

The programme was unveiled on 8 September 2026. This year, the festival has teamed up with the BOGOSHORTS short film festival in Bogotá. It also pays tribute to the Cuban writer Leonardo Padura and to Eduardo Carrasco.

Where

The festival village is set up in the Casino Municipal, facing the ocean.
